About Us

teamThree passionate gardeners have created Our Australian Gardens: Mary Jo Katter, Eamonn Katter and Kim Woods Rabbidge. We understand the desire to be inspired by, and visit, beautiful gardens.

We’re bringing you vignettes: musings, trends and stunning photos. We’re also filming Australia’s best gardens, finding out why they’re great, and about the gardeners and owners, about their own passion and journeys. You’ll learn about resilience, ingenuity and creativity.

OUR AUSTRALIAN GARDENS are distinctive – because they are on this unique continent! Often they’re inspired by myriad cultures, using plants and designs familiar throughout the world; occasionally just Australian plants are used.

However all reflect the diversity of our landscape: some are modest, others grand, some look inward to become urban sanctuaries, and others include vistas to the surrounding landscape.

All are proudly Australian.

Come with us on our journey of discovery!

“The best part of gardening is the gardeners I have met along the way: a happy group of people and source of endless inspiration.”

“Often I’m asked to name favourite gardens. I’d have to say they’ve been those where the owners are the most passionate – a love for their garden becomes infectious and you can’t help falling under their spell.”

“I see Australia’s gardens as an investment in the nation’s future; the creation of something tangible and enduring. Long after each of us has gone, our gardens will speak volumes about who we were, what we valued, and our abilities to ignite aesthetic emotions.

Whatever life’s worries, there is nothing a few hours’ work in the garden, and dirt under your fingernails, cannot solve.”
